Hepatitis Foundation Nurses raise awareness at Porirua health event

Over the weekend Hepatitis Foundation Community Nurses Lynnaire and Jacqui attended Creekfest in Porirua to raise awareness and chat to people about viral Hepatitis.
Lynnaire says the event was very successful. “I feel Creekfest presents an opportunity for people to come up and ask questions as they feel comfortable. It also provides an opportunity for those with Hepatitis B to have their overdue blood tests done or to register with the Hepatitis Foundation if they weren’t having any follow up in the community.”
She says people at the event often commented on how they liked to be informed about what exactly Hepatitis is, what the risk factors are and why it is important to be tested.
Creekfest was started in 2004 in Cannons Creek car park to raise awareness of programmes and services available in the region to achieve better health and well being outcomes.
